Applications are invited from the candidates fulfilling the statutory requirements specified in the Higher Education Act dated 20th July 2018 (O.J. 2018, section 1668) and the Statute of the University of Wroclaw.

Competition requirements:

Applicants are required to:

  1. Proficiency in Polish and English sufficient to teach in both languages.
  2. Teaching experience at university level in delivering classes on law degree courses (seminars, classes) in subjects such as Introduction to Jurisprudence, Theory and Philosophy of Law, Legal Ethics, Logic for Lawyers, Legislative Technique, Rhetoric, Theory of Argumentation, Sociology of Law, or other subjects similar in scope and subject matter.
  3. Hold a PhD in the social sciences in the field of legal studies, obtained from a Polish or foreign university on the basis of a dissertation covering issues in the field of theory and philosophy of law or related disciplines (e.g. philosophy, sociology).
  4. Availability necessary to carry out teaching and organisational duties within the Department.
  5. A declaration that employment at the University of Wrocław will be the candidate’s primary employment.
  6. A statement confirming a willingness to conduct research exclusively in the field of Legal Sciences.

The following elements will be particularly favoured:

  1. Experience in academic activity (research programmes, individual invitations, conference presentations, research fellowships) during studies, including doctoral studies, as well as after obtaining a PhD.
  2. Teaching experience at an academic level in delivering classes in English.
  3. Academic record (scored publications in Polish and English, as well as editing of collective works) addressing issues in the field of contemporary legal theory and philosophy, legal methodology, and the ethics and sociology of law. 
  4. Participation in research grants awarded by national and European centres (foundations, agencies) supporting science.
  5. Completion, in addition to law or administration studies, of a first or second-cycle degree in fields other than law or administration (e.g. philosophy, political science, history, sociology).

Scope of duties:

 (in the areas of research, teaching and administration, respectively):

  1. Conducting research in the field of legal theory and philosophy.
  2. Preparing academic publications.
  3. Preparing and submitting applications for national or international research grants.
  4. Active participation, including delivering papers, at national and international academic conferences.
  5. Teaching classes in Polish and English.
  6. Participation in the preparation of academic conferences organised by the Department of Theory and Philosophy of Law, as well as conferences co-organised with other academic centres.
  7. Participation in the organisational activities of the Department of Theory and Philosophy of Law and the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics.

  2. Declaration – article 113 the Law on Higher Education and Science (download Declaration – Article 113).
  3. Self-presentation containing a description of the candidate’s scientific activity, level of internationalization, organizational activity and teaching activity.
  4. A list of the candidate’s publications for a period of no more than 10 years.
  5. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers to be representative of his/her scientific achievement, or an explanation of the lack of them.
  6. Application for employment addressed to the Rector.
