The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements
The candidate is required to have:

  1. A doctoral degree in the humanities in the discipline of linguistics with specialisation in Italian language studies, obtained in the Republic of Poland or abroad. In the case of foreign candidates, the regulations concerning the recognition of education obtained abroad apply. Diplomas obtained in countries with which Poland has not concluded bilateral agreements on the recognition of foreign education as equivalent to education obtained in Poland are subject to nostrification
  2. Proficiency in the Italian language at a level enabling the preparation of academic publications, active participation in academic conferences and teaching classes.
  3. Scientific achievements in the field of linguistics, documented by publications (at least two publications in renowned international linguistics journals).
  4. Research interests focused on Italian and comparative linguistics.
  5. Documented active participation in international scientific conferences.
  6. Experience in the implementation of research projects.
  7. Competences, qualifications, and experience documented in the professional CV, enabling the proper conduct of academic classes, including classes using digital tools applied in academic education.
  8. Good interpersonal skills, communication skills, and ability to work in a team.
  9. Knowledge of Polish or English at the level of at least B2 according to the CEFR.
  10. The selection committee will also take into account the following additional criteria: knowledge of foreign languages, completed research internships, a habilitation project, as well as competences and skills in the methodology of teaching foreign languages.

Responsibilities
In the research area:

  1. Conducting individual and team research.
  2. Preparing scientific publications at least to the extent required by the evaluation conditions in force at the University of Wrocław.
  3. Active participation in scientific conferences.
  4. Applying for research projects and grants in national and international competitions.
  5. Joining international scientific and research cooperation.
  6. Initiating new scientific contacts with domestic and foreign research centers.

In the teaching area:

  1. Conducting classes related to the teaching process in the field of Italian and general linguistics as well as teaching of Italian as a foreign language (levels A1-C1 according to the CEFR), resulting from the current needs of the Institute of Romance Studies, in the scope expected for the position of assistant professor, in accordance with the current internal regulations of the University of Wrocław.

In the organizational area:

  1. Performing tasks related to the organization of the teaching process at the Institute of Romance Studies, including: organising credits and exams, participating in the work of teams implementing changes in study programs and developing new study programs.
  2. Organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences, participating in editorial work on scientific publications.
  3. Popularizing knowledge on Italian language and culture and promoting the achievements of the Department of Italian Studies in the Institute of Romance Studies.
  4. Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation, organization, and improvement of the teaching process as indicated by the management of the Institute of Romance Studies.

  9. A list of the candidate’s research works published in the last 10 years.
  10. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements.
  11. A teaching plan for a course (30 teaching hours, 15 classes) in a freely chosen area of Italian or comparative linguistics, in Italian (level of language proficiency B1 according to the CEFR).
  12. Any other documents supporting the application.
