The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements
The candidate is required to have:

  1. A doctoral degree in the humanities in the discipline of linguistics.
  2. Scientific achievements in the field of translation studies, documented by publications (at least one first-author publication in a renowned international journal).
  3. Research interests focused on the theory and practice of translation.
  4. Documented active participation in national and international scientific conferences.
  5. Experience in the implementation of research and educational projects, as well as completed research internships.
  6. Competences, qualifications, and experience documented in the professional CV, enabling the proper conduct of academic classes, including classes using digital tools applied in academic education.
  7. Willingness to perform organizational work and competence in the field of teaching organization, work in university committees, organization of meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  8. Availability to conduct classes in full-time and part-time modes.
  9. Flexibility in creating, preparing, and implementing new types of classes, including those using digital tools.
  10. Knowledge of Polish sufficient to communicate in the areas of academic teaching and organization.
  11. Knowledge of Dutch and English at a level enabling the preparation of scientific publications, active participation in scientific conferences, and teaching classes.
  12. Good interpersonal skills, communication skills, and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities (in the research, teaching, organizational areas respectively)
In the field of research:

  1. Conducting individual and team research.
  2. Preparing scientific publications at least to the extent required by the evaluation conditions required at the University of Wrocław.
  3. Active participation in scientific conferences.
  4. Applying for research projects and grants in national and international competitions.
  5. Joining the international scientific and research cooperation.
  6. Initiating new research contacts with domestic and foreign research centers.

In the area of teaching:

  1. Conducting classes related to the teaching process in the field of Dutch translation studies and practical knowledge of the Dutch language, resulting from the current needs of the Department of Dutch Studies, in the scope expected for the position of assistant professor in accordance with the current internal regulations of the University of Wrocław.

In the organizational area:

  1. Performing tasks related to the organization of the teaching process at the Department of Dutch Studies, including: organizing credits and exams, participating in the work of teams implementing changes in study programs and developing new study programs.
  2. Organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences, participating in editorial work on scientific publications.
  3. Popularizing translation studies and promoting the achievements of the Department of Dutch Studies.
  4. Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation, organization, and improvement of the teaching process as indicated by the management of the Department of Dutch Studies.

  8. Self-presentation containing a description of the candidate’s scientific activity, level of internationalization, organizational activity and teaching activity.
  9. A list of the candidate’s research works published in the last 10 years.
  10. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements.
  11. A teaching plan for a course in a freely chosen area of translation, taking into account the participants’ level of language proficiency according to the CEFR.
  12. Any other documents supporting the application.
