The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements
The eligible candidates should:

  1. Possession of a doctoral degree in the humanities and at least a master’s degree in sinology or a related discipline in the humanities obtained in the Republic of Poland or abroad; in the case of a native speaker of Chinese, completion of a university degree and many years of experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language at the academic level. For foreign candidates, the regulations on the recognition of education acquired abroad apply. Diplomas obtained in countries with which Poland has not concluded bilateral agreements on the recognition of education obtained abroad as equivalent to education obtained in Poland are subject to nostrification.
  2. Knowledge of the Chinese language certified by a diploma.
  3. Competencies, qualifications and experience, documented in a professional resume, in working with university students, enabling proper conduct of academic classes (exercises, conversation classes, seminars, and/or lectures), such as: Practical study of the Chinese language, East Asian art, Chinese history and culture.
  4. Availability to teach full-time and part-time classes.
  5. In the case of foreign candidates, proof of knowledge of English (B2 level) to the extent that allows to conduct classes in this language and Polish at a communicative level (B1 level).
  6. Documented in the professional resume experience in organizational work for the university, including organization of conferences, cultural events, work in the scientific circle.
  7. The selection committee will also take into account the following additional criteria related to the teaching needs of the Department of Chinese Studies and the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies: competence to teach Chinese arts and crafts, cultural exchanges, practical learning of the Chinese language, activity in the popularization of knowledge about China.

Responsibilities
In the teaching area:

  1. Teaching related to the implementation of the teaching process, resulting from the current needs of the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, in the dimension provided for the position of teaching assistant professor, in accordance with the current internal normative acts of the University of Wroclaw, in particular in the subjects: Practical study of the Chinese language, Art of East Asia, History and culture of China.
  2. Participation in the development of the teaching offer of the Institute, including contributions to the creation of new curricula.
  3. Initiating new teaching contacts with domestic and foreign research centers.

In the organizational area:

  1. Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation, organization and improvement of the didactic process as indicated by the Director of the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies.
  2. Participating in the organization of scientific and cultural events.
