The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements
The candidate is required to have:

  1. Holding at least a Master’s degree (English Studies).
  2. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, at a near-native level, enabling the delivery of academic teaching at levels ranging from B2+ to C2 (CEFR).
  3. Clearly defined professional development plans.
  4. Documented teaching experience in literary studies and practical English language instruction at the academic level, as well as readiness to teach in these areas, including: Practical English (PNJA) – writing (BA level), Practical English (PNJA) – academic writing (MA level), English literature to 1700, Introduction to Literary Studies, and American literature.
  5. Research in the field of twenty-first-century critical discourses (philosophy in literature), documented through publication; experience in organising academic conferences; and participation in academic conferences, including at least one conference held outside of Poland.
  6. Proficiency in Polish sufficient for effective communication in academic teaching and within the university environment.

The responsibilities

  1. Conducting classes and administrative work related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process in the scope and dimension envisaged for the position of senior lecturer in accordance with the current internal normative acts of the University of Wrocław.
  2. Performing other tasks and activities related to the implementation and organization of the teaching process indicated by the Director of the Institute of English Studies or the head of the Second Language Learning and Teaching Section in particular: acting as a tutor of student groups, acting as a secretary of the admissions committee, participating in the organization of exams, etc.
  3. Active participation in didactic and editorial activities of the Department and its organization (department meetings, scientific conferences at home and abroad, editorial work for publications created at the Institute of English Studies).
  4. Observing the provisions of copyright and related rights in teaching, scientific and creative activity.

  5. Declaration regarding the scientific discipline in which the candidate will conduct research (download Declaration of scientific discipline).
  6. Self-presentation containing a description of the candidate’s teaching and organizational achievements to date.
  7. A list of the candidate’s research works published in the last 10 years.
  8. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements.
  9. Application for employment addressed to the Rector.
  10. Statement in connection with Article 113 of the Act on Higher Education and Science (download Statement – Article 113).
  11. Any other documents supporting the application.

The Head of the Board reserves the right to request the candidates to deliver copies of additional documents necessary for the assessment of their candidacy. All submitted documents must be signed.
