Applications are invited from the candidates fulfilling the statutory requirements specified in the Higher Education Act dated 20th July 2018 (O.J. 2018, section 1668) and the Statute of the University of Wroclaw.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Polish at a level enabling holding didactic classes in this language.
- Proficiency in English at a level enabling holding didactic classes in this language.
- PhD degree in Social Sciences in the discipline of political science and public administration; a university degree in law-related fields, sociology, or management is an advantage.
- Documented record of scientific achievements in the field of political and administrative sciences, understood as authorship or co-authorship of scientific articles published in high-scoring journals included in the list of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Science), as well as authorship or co-authorship of scientific monographs published by publishers at level I or II of the list published by the Ministry, editorship of a monograph, or authorship/co-authorship of a chapter in such a monograph. Preference will be given to achievements in research areas conducted at the Department where the competition was announced (political systems, voting behaviour, public administration).
- Clearly defined academic career plans.
- Experience in acquiring financial resources for research activities, participation in research projects as a principal investigator or researcher (participant).
- Active participation in scientific life, manifested in particular through presentations at national and international conferences.
- Experience in editing scientific publications or journals.
- Experience in organising national and international scientific conferences.
- Experience in conducting didactic classes at higher education institutions, experience in teaching subjects related to management of social projects is an advantage.
- Experience in organisational work for the academic community.
- Experience in science communication and popularisation, particularly among high school students.
- Availability necessary to perform additional organisational tasks.
- A declaration that the University of Wrocław will be their primary place of employment.
- A declaration of conducting scientific research solely in the discipline of political and administrative sciences (100%).
- Preference will be given to candidates who have a current record of scientific publications from the last 4 years.
Responsibilities at the workplace:
In the research area:
- Conducting scientific research in the discipline of political and administrative sciences.
- Preparing scientific publications for high-scoring journals and prestigious publishing houses.
- Editing scientific publications or academic journals.
- Applying for internal and external (national and international) research grants and projects.
- Delivering presentations at scientific conferences.
- Executing other research-related tasks as assigned.
In the teaching area:
- Conducting didactic classes in both Polish and English.
- Carrying out other tasks and activities related to the organisation and implementation of the teaching process.
In the organisational area:
- Assisting in the organisation of national and international scientific conferences.
- Implementing science communication and outreach activities, particularly aimed at high school students.
- Involvement in promotional activities for the Institute and the Faculty.
- Performing other organisational duties for the benefit of the Department, the Institute, and the Faculty.

- Self-presentation containing a description of the candidate’s scientific activity, level of internationalization, organizational activity and teaching activity.
- A list of the candidate’s publications for a period of no more than 10 years.
- Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers to be representative of his/her scientific achievement, or an explanation of the lack of them.
- Application for employment addressed to the Rector.
- Two recommendation letters, reserving that those letters should be sent by e-mail to the Commission Chairman at: magdalena.ratajczak@uwr.edu.pl directly, not via the candidate and they are disclosed to the Commission members only, while by applying within the competition, the candidate waives a right to read these letters.
