Period of employment: Employment contract for a maximum of four years or replacement employment contract for one year from 01.10.2025 to 30.09.2026.
The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.
Application requirements
- Doctoral degree in Mathematics or Computer Science.
- A very good scientific record in mathematics or computer science.
- In case of extension of employment for the assistant professor’s position: the scientific activity after obtaining the PhD degree, indicating the perspectives for obtaining habilitation.
- Activity in applying for grants will be highly assessed.
- Fluency in English, at least B2 level.
Responsibilities
The duties of a person employed as assistant professor will include: conducting research, raising funds for research, conducting didactic classes, engaging in organizational work at the Faculty and the University.
Required documents

- Curriculum vitae.
- Photocopies of diplomas attesting to the award of a master’s degree, doctoral or post-doctoral degree.
- A statement that the University of Wroclaw will be the candidate primary place of work in the case of winning the competition (download Statement on place of work).
- Declaration of the discipline in which the candidate will conduct research, and in the case of people conducting research in more than one discipline, the percentage of their involvement in each of these disciplines (download Declaration of scientific discipline).
- Self-presentation containing a description of the candidate’s scientific activity, level of internationalization, organizational activity and teaching activity.
- A list of the candidate’s research works published in the last 10 years.
- Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements, or an explanation of the lack of them.
- Application for employment addressed to His Magnificence the Rector.
- In connection with Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018. The Law on Higher Education and Science (download Declaration – Article 113).
- At least two recommendation letters; from scholars with a post-doctoral degree or the professor title or, in the case of candidates from a country other than Poland, holding positions equivalent to a post-doctoral degree or the professor’s title, specializing in the field within the candidate area of interest or related thereto. The recommendation letters should be sent by e-mail directly to the Commission Chairman professor Dariusz Buraczewski at the following e-mail address: dziekan.wmi@uwr.edu.pl, and not be seen by the candidate. The letters are overt only to the Commission members while the candidates abandon the right of access to these letters.
