The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.
Requirements
Candidates are required to:
- Hold a doctoral degree in the social sciences or humanities (cultural and religious sciences).
- Concrete plans for scientific development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of English at a level of at least B2+ or the equivalent expressed on other scales (TOEFL, Cambridge, etc.).
- Social science or humanities research output, by which is meant:
4.1.independent authorship or co-authorship of articles published in journals included in the international databases Scopus, Web of Science, ERIH+ or DOAJ;
4.2.independent authorship or co-authorship of scientific monographs published in publishing houses at level II in the list of publishing houses published by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education / Ministry of Science and Higher Education, editorial or chapter in such;
4.3.independent authorship or co-authorship of scientific monographs published in publishing houses at level I in the list of publishing houses published by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education / Ministry of Science and Higher Education;
4.4.independent authorship or co-authorship of articles published in journals included in the current list of journals of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) / Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN);
4.5. independent authorship or co-authorship of book chapters published in publications included in the list of publications published by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education / Ministry of Science and Higher Education. - The minimum condition for entry into the competition is to have at least one publication listed in points 4.1-4.2 and, in addition, at least two other publications listed in points 4.1-4.5. Preference will be given to contributions in the field of detailed sociology carried out in the Department in which the competition is announced.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a proven record of participation as a project leader or contractor in a research or educational project carried out in higher education institutions, funded by funds obtained through national or international open competitions.
In assessing the applications, consideration will also be given to: - Knowledge of the Polish language to a degree which enables them to teach in this language.
- Documented by previous teaching experience or publications, competence to teach subjects in the areas of general sociology, sociology of culture, sociology of knowledge, sociological theories, quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Participation with papers in foreign scientific conferences.
- Previous involvement in organisational and public awareness activities.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have a current academic record of publications as listed in section 4 for the last 4 years.
- Make a statement to conduct research only in the discipline of sociological sciences at 100%.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in areas related to teaching.
- Preparation of scientific publications, appearing in high-scoring journals and prestigious publishers.
- Applying for internal and external (national and international) research grants.
- Applying for foreign study grants.
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and students of the Doctoral School (also in English).
- Involvement in organisational activities for the Department, Institute and Faculty.

- An autoreference containing a description of the applicant’s scientific activity, degree of internationalisation, organisational activity and teaching, and a plan for scientific development.
- A list of the candidate’s publications for a period of no more than 10 years.
- Electronic versions of the two most important publications which the applicant considers to be representative of his/her scientific output, or an explanation of their absence.
- Application for employment addressed to the Rector.
- Declaration – article 113 the Law on Higher Education and Science (download Declaration – Article 113).
- Proof of English language proficiency of at least B2+ (or equivalent level).
