Applications are invited from those who fulfil the statutory requirements specified in the Higher Education Act from 20th July 2018 (Dz. U. z 2018 r., poz. 1668) and the statutes of the University of Wroclaw.
Requirements:
Candidates are expected to meet the following requirements:
- A doctoral degree in discipline of biological sciences, in the field of exact and natural sciences.
- At least five years of research experience in genetics and molecular biology of the yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae and/or Schizosaccharomyces pombe after obtaining the doctoral degree.
- Practical knowledge and skills in molecular biology techniques, including: protein and nucleic acid isolation, Western blotting, chromatin immunoprecipitation, PCR/qPCR, flow cytometry, cloning, bidirectional electrophoresis of DNA fragments, skills related to proteomics analyses and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
- Documented scientific achievements, including relevant publications in top scientific journals and participation in scientific conferences.
- Willingness to acquire new skills and techniques, undertake challenges, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Participation in research grants as either principal investigator or team member.
- Proficiency in Polish sufficient to conduct teaching classes in Polish.
- Proficiency in English sufficient to conduct teaching classes in English and present research data at international conferences.
Scope of Duties (in research, teaching and organizational areas, respectively)
Research Responsibilities:
- Conducting research in genetics, molecular biology, and physiology of the yeasts Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Schizosaccharomyces pombe.
- Monitoring scientific reports published in international journals.
- Preparing scientific publications.
- Active participation in scientific conferences.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Teaching courses in genetics and molecular biology.
- Supervising volunteers and students conducting research projects in the department.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Participating in science outreach activities in the Lower Silesian Science Festival and the Night of Biologists.
- Supervising interns.
- Participating in the development of new courses and study programs.
