The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.
Requirements
The candidate is required to have:
- Holding a PhD or habilitated doctor in the humanities in the field of Arts Studies or Musicology. Applications will also be considered from candidates holding a PhD or habilitated doctor in the humanities in the field of Musics, provided that they also hold at least a Master’s degree in Arts Studies or Musicology.
- Proficiency in Polish sufficient to conduct teaching in this language.
- Proficiency in English sufficient to conduct teaching in this language.
- Knowledge of issues in ethnomusicology and the anthropology of music, with particular emphasis on world musical cultures and the latest research trends in these fields.
- A record of having published a scholarly monograph or at least two academic articles in journals assigned to the discipline of Arts Studies and included on the official ministerial list of ranked journals and publishers.
- Ability to teach both theoretical and practical music courses.
- Documented experience in teaching at the higher education level and demonstrated teaching competence.
Additional requirements:
- Within the last five years, having obtained, led, or participated in a national research grant from one of the following institutions (MNiSW, MKiDN, NCN, NCBiR, FNP), or having obtained equivalent research funding from national or international institutions; alternatively, having submitted at least one grant application that received a positive evaluation (with a score of at least 70%, where scoring is available) at the final stage of assessment but was not funded due to budget limitations.
Responsibilities (in the research, teaching, organizational areas respectively)
In the research area:
- Conducting research that results in publications of high scientific quality, including publishing in journals and publications that provide high scores needed in the process of the discipline evaluation. Obtaining external funds for research by applying for research grants.
- Active participation in national and international academic conferences.
- Conducting research in collaboration with international research institutions in the fields of ethnomusicology and the anthropology of music.
In the didactic area:
- Teaching within the scope of assigned classes.
In the organizational area:
- Participation in the Institute’s organizational and promotional activities (councils, committees, working groups). Assistance in organizing international ethnomusicological fieldwork expeditions and international academic conferences, as well as in the preparation of grant applications.

- Self-presentation containing a description of the candidate’s scientific activity, level of internationalization and teaching and organizational activity.
- A list of the candidate’s publications for a period of no more than 10 years.
- Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers to be representative of his/her scientific achievement, or an explanation of the lack of them.
