The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.

Requirements:

  1. Completed course of historical studies, PhD degree in the Humanities, in the discipline of History.
  2. Conducting research in the field of the history of Poland and/or world history in the 16th – 18th  centuries (1492-1795).
  3. Knowledge of at least one foreign language, sufficient to conduct research and communicate its results.
  4. A proven record of scholarly publication, including either: a published or accepted scholarly monograph or academic articles in journals classified under the discipline of history and included on the official ministerial list of peer-reviewed journals, or at least two chapters in peer-reviewed collective monographs.
  5. Experience in securing external funding for scientific research or collaborative research projects, confirmed by leading or participating in a domestic or international research project funded by nationally or internationally competitive grant programs (including, but not limited to MNiSW, MKiDN, NCN, NCBiR, or FNP), or through a scholarship or research internship at a renowned academic institution abroad.
  6. Preparedness to conduct teaching activities in the field of Polish and general history of the 16th – 18th centuries.
  7. For candidates from outside Poland, proficiency in the Polish language sufficient to conduct academic classes.

Responsibilities

The assistant professor will be expected to:

  1. Conduct research on the history of Poland and/or the general history of the 16th – 18th centuries.
  2. Teach courses in Polish and general history of the 16th – 18th centuries.
  3. Fulfil organisational responsibilities associated with employment at the Historical Institute of the University of Wroclaw.
  4. Apply for research funding.
  5. Publish scholarly articles in journals and monographs listed on ministerial publications lists.
  6. Apply for domestic and international research scholarships.
  7. Establish and maintain cooperation with research centers in Poland and abroad.

  4. Self-presentation containing a description of the candidate’s scientific activity, level of internationalization and teaching  and organizational activity.
  5. A list of the candidate’s publications for a period of no more than 10 years.
  6. Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers to be representative of his/her scientific achievement, or an explanation of the lack of them.
  7. Application for employment addressed to the Rector.
