The competition is open to each candidate who meets the requirements set out in the Higher Education and Science Act of July 20th 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of University of Wroclaw.
Requirements for the position of Assistant
- Enrollment in a doctoral school.
- Proficiency in Polish sufficient to conduct academic classes in this language, confirmed by a B2 certificate for non-native speakers.
- Proficiency in English sufficient to conduct academic classes in this language (minimum B2 certificate).
- Academic achievements in the field of atmospheric sciences (e.g. air quality, meteorology, climatology, atmospheric process modelling, meteorological measurements, and atmospheric pollution), including authorship or co-authorship of at least one paper in the last five years published in journals indexed in Web of Science or Scopus databases, with the minimum of 140 points (Announcement of the Minister of Science dated January 5, 2024, regarding the list of scientific journals and peer-reviewed materials from international conferences; including a least one as the leading author). The papers must be published or at least accepted for publication.
Expected skills
- Proficiency in programming (R, Fortran, Python) and the ability to learn new programming languages, develop code, and analyze data.
- Knowledge of GIS tools and experience working with spatial data.
- Experience meteorological and pollutant transport models.
- Familiarity with measurement methods in atmospheric sciences (e.g. lidar, particle counters)
- A valid category B driving licence.
A significant advantage for the candidate will be experience in managing a research project (e.g., NCN, NCBiR, HE, or H2020) and experience at a foreign institution.
Responsibilities at the workplace
- Conducting research individually and in team.
- Publishing research papers in international journals as a leading author and in co-operation with other researchers.
- Applying for external research funds.
- Cooperation with external research teams.
- Teaching in Polish and English, supervising bachelor’s and master’s students.
- Participation in and organization of seminars, and workshops; participation in university, faculty, and institute committees and other undertakings related to the process of educating students and research.

- List scientific publications in the period no longer than the last 10 years, conference presentations, previous experience and other achievements in the field of organisation of scientific life and popularisation of science.
- List of research projects, including sources of funding and the role of the candidate in the project (project manager or participant).
- Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the applicant considers to be representative of his/her scientific output, or an explanation of their absence.
